Mitchell lost her friend Angela in a fatal car accident that occurred on April 11 the 11th of April, 1997. Angela had been 15 at the time. Mitchell found this incredibly difficult and Angela became the basis for the song Angel that is featured on her debut album. Mitchell also discussed this event in Chicken Soup of the Preteen Soul and her 7th Heaven episode, Nothing Endures But Change. Mitchell's best friend Angela aged 15 years old at the time of her loss in an accident involving an automobile and a car, also wrote about her experience. Mitchell composed Angela as the very first track in her album dedicated to Angela. Her publication Chicken Soup For the Preteen Soul and the 7th Heaven episode "Nothing Endures But Change" also contain her report of the moment.
