Cynthia launched her fashion modeling career after moving to New York. In a short time Cynthia was signed to a five-year agreement with Wihelmina Models. It led to a highly popular book and the cover of Essence Magazine. Cynthia's cover of Essence was not only one of their most successful covers, but it was Susan Taylor's favorite. Cynthia got her second image shortly thereafter and was the beginning of the lucrative career she would pursue. Following her move to Paris, Cynthia strutted down her Paris Fashion Week runways and Milan Fashion Week. Cynthia was able to spend almost a full year living abroad. Once she came back to the United States, her fame exploded. Her job was to create advertising with Maybelline Oil of Olay Macy's. Magazine editorials for Vogue, Glamour, Elle, Essence and Vanity Fair were soon to follow. Cynthia's career was boosted by being selected before Naomi Campbell for the co-starring character in "Without You I'm Not Anything" opposite Sandra Bernhadt.
